What’s the Best Platform? Why Your Business Needs the Right Fit, Not the Latest Trend.
Quick Answer
If you’re asking “whats the best platform” for your speaking or coaching business, the honest answer is: there is no single best platform. There is only the best platform for you – the one that fits your stage of business, your offers, your team, and your brain.
Now, here’s how a dream about ridiculous leggings made that very, very clear.
A Strange Dream About Leggings (That Totally Applies to Your Tech)
Last night I had a dream that I was in a department store with my mom.
We were in the clothing section, trying on outfits, laughing, doing the little “what do you think?” head tilt. Totally normal.

And then I tried on the leggings.
- Fishnet material
- Silk flowers
- Embellishments crawling up the side like a craft store exploded
They were… a lot.
And they were absolutely not me.
I stepped out of the change room to show my mom and we both burst out laughing.
No question – these needed to come off. I just wanted my real pants back.
So I headed to the ladies’ change room.
Except in the dream, the ladies’ change room was packed.
Full of men. Everywhere. Just hanging out in the ladies’ section like it was totally normal.
I wasn’t scared or threatened. I just remember thinking:
“I need a private place to get out of these ridiculous leggings.”
So I wandered the store – still wearing them – trying to find a quiet space to change.
When I finally found an empty change room and closed the door, I looked around and realized:
My original pants – the simple, comfortable, “these are me” pants – were gone.
I searched and searched, and I woke up before I ever found them.
And of course, my business brain woke up and went:
“Well, that’s exactly what happens when everyone keeps asking whats the best platform.”
The Real Question Behind “Whats the Best Platform”
When people ask me “whats the best platform” – for speaking, coaching, or consulting – what they usually mean is:
- What tool will finally make this easier?
- Which system will stop things from falling through the cracks?
- What tech will help me scale without breaking everything?
Because the online world shouts a lot of answers at you:
- “You have to be on GoHighLevel.”
- “No, Kartra is the way.”
- “Kajabi or nothing.”
- “Just move everything into one all-in-one platform and your problems are solved.”
It’s loud.
It’s confident.
And it can leave you feeling like if you don’t pick the “right” one, you’re already behind.
That’s where the dream comes in.
The Fishnet Leggings = The Latest “Best” Platform
In this story, those over-the-top leggings are the latest, greatest platform everyone’s raving about.
They might be perfect for someone else. On them, they look amazing.
But when you put them on, you notice:
- The learning curve makes you want to cry
- Your team is confused and frustrated
- Half of your other tools don’t play nicely with it
- It doesn’t really match how you actually sell or deliver
From the outside, it’s “the best platform.”
On your actual body (and in your actual business), it feels awkward and exhausting.
You’re standing there in tech fishnets thinking:
“Everyone says this is the best. So why does it feel so wrong on me?”
The Missing Pants = The Tools That Actually Fit You
Those missing pants in the dream?
That’s your right-fit tech stack:
- The email platform you actually understand
- A CRM you’ll consistently use
- A course/membership/delivery tool that supports how you really work
- A booking and payment flow that doesn’t twist you into knots
- Everything working together to meet YOUR goals…
It might be one big “all-in-one” system.
It might be two or three tools working together.
The point isn’t whether it’s trendy.
The point is whether it fits:
- Your stage of business
- Your offers and delivery model
- Your team and their skill sets
- Your own tolerance for tech
That’s the part we lose sight of when we’re chasing the generic answer to “whats the best platform”.
The Crowded Change Room = Too Many Opinions
In the dream, even the change rooms – the place that’s supposed to be private – were crowded.
That’s what decision-making feels like when you live inside:
- Facebook groups full of conflicting tech advice
- Peers insisting you must switch to the tool they love
- Gurus telling you their platform is the only serious option
With all those voices in your head, it’s nearly impossible to hear your own needs:
- What do you actually need your tech to do?
- What are you realistically ready to manage right now?
- How can your tools make your life simpler – not heavier?
So… Whats the Best Platform For You?
Let’s reframe the question.
Instead of asking “whats the best platform” in general, try:
“What does my business actually need a platform to do?”
For most speakers, coaches, and consultants, that looks like:
- Lead capture & nurture: Does it make it easy for people to opt in and stay in touch?
- Booking & sales: Can someone inquire, book, and pay without you sending 14 emails?
- Delivery: Does it support how you deliver (live, virtual, memberships, courses, VIP days)?
- Follow-up & upsell: Can you stay in touch and invite people to the next logical step?
- Team reality: Can your team (or future team) actually manage it without hating their life?
Then you layer in:
- Your budget
- Your current tools
- Your timeline
- Your capacity to learn something new
Suddenly, “whats the best platform” stops being a popularity contest…
and becomes a design question about your business.
A Private “Change Room” for Your Tech (a.k.a. VIP Days)
This is exactly why I created my
🔗 Tech, Systems & Platform VIP Days.
It’s basically a private change room for your business:
- We inventory what you’re using now (and what’s driving you bananas)
- We map how leads actually find you, book you, and work with you
- We get clear on what your tech needs to do in the next 12–24 months
- We decide whether to simplify, shift platforms, or create a smarter combination of tools
No pressure to move to a specific system.
No one-size-fits-all “best platform.”
Just a thoughtful, practical plan for the platform (or stack) that actually fits you.
So if you’ve been wandering around in someone else’s “perfect” platform, feeling like you lost your real pants along the way…
It might be time to stop asking “whats the best platform” and start asking:
“What’s the best platform for me, right now, and how can I make it work with the business I actually have?”
If you’d like help answering that question,
I’d love to see you in a VIP Day.
